Tech Companies Layoffs in 2023: The phase of retrenchment is such that every day some or the other employees have to lose their jobs. On a large scale, companies are laying off people. According to a data, 3000 employees are losing their jobs every day in India as well as at the global level. This situation may become more serious in the coming times, as some major tech companies have announced to lay off a large number of employees.

Amid fears of a global economic recession, layoffs have started happening more rapidly. In January, 166 tech companies have fired more than 65,000 employees so far. Amazon has laid off a total of 18000 employees globally, including 1000 Indian employees, before retrenchment of 10,000 employees of Microsoft.
154,336 employees employed in 2022
In 2022, more than 1,000 companies laid off 154,336 employees, according to data from layoff tracking site Layoffs.fyi. However, compared to 2022, large scale layoffs continue in the first month of the new year. Startup companies of India are also participating wholeheartedly in this. A great example of this is the startup company ShareChat which has laid off 20 percent or 500 employees.

IT sector giant Wipro has recently laid off more than 400 of its new employees. Apart from this, food delivery app Swiggy had laid off 380 employees. MediBuddy Digital Healthcare Company has fired 8 percent of its total workspace employees i.e. 200 people. Also, Ola has laid off 200 employees, Dunzo 3 percent and Sophos 450 employees.
