The Modi government is working on an action plan to promote coarse grain production and consumption in each state. All the state governments including Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh are exercising to increase the production of coarse grains. Uttar Pradesh has a special place in the production of coarse grains. But due to the reluctance of the farmers, the area has decreased in the state. Now the state government is preparing a new blueprint to promote the production of coarse grains.
Farming was done in 40 lakh hectares, now other crops have been grown
The Uttar Pradesh government is engaged in preparations at the ground level to promote the production of coarse grains. Various government agencies of the state government have identified such places where millet can be cultivated. Another fact has come to the fore that there are 40 lakh hectares of land around Budelkhand and western districts, where millets used to be produced. But now other crops are being grown there. Now the state government has decided that the people living in these areas will be motivated to promote the production of coarse grains.
Now coarse grains will be cultivated in 25 lakh hectares
The state government has started paperwork to increase the area under millets production. Now the state government will increase the area under coarse grains from 21 lakh hectare to 25 lakh hectare. The Agriculture Department of the Government of Uttar Pradesh has identified these districts and sought information from all the blocks regarding the production of coarse grains. He has been asked what is the condition of the land in the block regarding coarse grain production.
Farmers will be given this much seed of coarse grain
The state government will provide free seeds to encourage the cultivation of coarse cereals. It is the endeavor of the state government to use the coarse grain again for consumption and sale in the state. The state government is also providing free seeds to the farmers and will speed up the production of seeds in government farms of the state to provide quality seeds. It has been started from Jaunai Agricultural Farm in Etawah of the state. The state government has set a target of providing 5000 quintals of millet, 7000 quintals of jowar, 200 quintals of pulses and 200 quintals of sawan seeds to the farmers for the upcoming crop season.
Farmers will be given free minikit
The Uttar Pradesh government will provide free seeds to the farmers. The state government has requested the central government to provide seeds. According to the officials of the state government, the consumption of seeds will increase if the area of coarse grains is increased. Central seed distribution agencies have been contacted to ensure supply of seeds. Uttar Pradesh Seed Development Corporation, NSC and FPO will do the work of giving coarse grains to the farmers. Free minikit of seeds will also be provided to the farmers. The state government will also provide seeds on subsidy. At the same time, the MSP of millet has been fixed at Rs 2350 per quintal on MSP. The state government will also decide the MSP of other coarse cereals like Jowar, Kodon, Kutki and Sawan next year.
