Helicopter Emergency Landing: A helicopter carrying Art Of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar made an emergency landing at Ukiniyam, a tribal settlement in Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve (STR) in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district on Wednesday (January 25) morning due to bad weather. Fell The Kadambur police, who reached the spot, told that Ravi Shankar and four other people aboard the helicopter are safe.
According to media reports, Sri Sri Ravishankar was going from Bengaluru to Tiruppur in a private helicopter along with four others. Due to extreme fog and bad weather, the helicopter had to make an emergency landing at 10.40 am on Wednesday. Around 11:30 am, after a wait of 50 minutes the sky had cleared up and the helicopter took off again.
What did the police tell?
Kadambur Police Inspector C Vadivel Kumar said, “When the helicopter was flying over STR at around 10.15 am, the pilot could not proceed due to bad weather. The pilot made an emergency landing at Ukinium.”
‘The helicopter was in the village for about an hour’
Tamil Nadu Pazhangudi Makkal Sangam’s state treasurer K Ramasamy, who reached Ukiniyam village on the request of former CPI MLA PL Sundaram, told TOI that by the time he reached the spot, the helicopter had been cleared to proceed. “The helicopter was in the village for an hour and started its journey to Tiruppur around 11.30 am,” he said.
