When the child’s effigy came to life, Mother Parvati ordered Ganesha to guard the door and she went to take a bath. He told Ganesh ji not to let anyone come inside until he comes back after taking a bath. Ganesh obeyed the order of the mother.
Shiva beheaded Ganapati
Ganapati was guarding the door with full devotion. Only then Lord Shiva came to meet Mother Parvati but child Ganesha stopped him from going inside. Bholenath tried many times to convince Bal Ganesha but Ganpati did not budge from the toss. After a long time, Mahadev got angry and beheaded Ganesha with his trident. After this Shiva went inside.
Elephant’s head applied to Ganapati
Lord Shiva told Mother Parvati that a boy was not allowing him to enter, because of which he beheaded him. Mother Parvati started mourning after hearing this. Goddess Parvati told that it was not an ordinary balcony but my son Ganesha, after which Lord Shiva put an elephant’s head on Ganesha’s torso. In this way Ganapati got life again and he was called Gajmukh.
Ganesh Jayanti Puja
On Ganesh Jayanti, in the auspicious time in the morning, bathe Ganapati with sesame and then worship with flowers, durva, incense, lamp etc. Moon sighting is considered prohibited on this day, because seeing the moon on Vinayaka Chaturthi brings stigma.
