Helicopter rescues seriously injured in Khewang landslide, 30 families displaced..

Bishnu Adhikari, who was seriously injured in a landslide in Khewang of Taplejung, has been rescued by a helicopter. Chief District Officer Mahesh Kumar Pokharel informed that the officer was airlifted to Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar for further treatment.

He was rescued from the spot and brought to the district headquarters Phungling. He has been shifted to Biratnagar for further treatment.

Similarly, the bodies of mother-in-law and daughter-in-law of the same house have been found missing. Locals and police found the body in the morning. The bodies of the two were brought to the district hospital for postmortem by helicopter, said Taplejung Police Chief DSP Kailash Rai.

 

According to Ward Chairman Wuddhidahal, 30 families have been displaced due to the landslide. Dahal said that there was some relief due to the open weather in the morning but it was not possible to cross the river due to rising rivers. As other members of the family moved to Jhapa, only three people including mother, son and daughter-in-law were staying at home.

According to Deuman Mawo, a local teacher, the landslide that fell from the cardamom orchard in Ward No. 8 Mamankhe has reached the settlement but no damage has been done to the house. According to Principal Omnath Gautam, 60 students of Simba of Linkhim in Faktanglung Municipality-3 spent the night at Simba Secondary School.

They have come to the local school after the water level in the river Tamor rose and landslides and mudslides fell on the other side of Simba Bazaar. The landslide has flooded two drinking water sources in Faktanglung 2 Khejenim Chakhu. According to Jagan Poudel of Khejenim, 45 families have been deprived of drinking water. According to Poudel, 700 families have been deprived of electricity due to the leaking of 30 meters pipe of Methem Khola Power House. Poudel said that landslides were seen in most parts of the road connecting Siva to Tapethok and traffic was completely blocked.
