Karnataka Police Arrested Drug Peddlers: Mangaluru police in Karnataka arrested nine people, including doctors, on Saturday for their alleged involvement in drug consumption and smuggling. According to news agency PTI, among those arrested were medical students of a private college in Mangaluru. Those arrested reportedly included students and doctors from Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Telangana and Karnataka.
Let us tell you that in the last one month, the police in Mangaluru have made twenty-four arrests in drug-related cases. Earlier this month, the Karnataka Police arrested a man in Mangaluru and seized 16 grams of the drug, estimated to be worth Rs 1.56 lakh. The accused has been identified as Abdullah Bardila (51), a resident of Goa and was caught smuggling drugs in the coastal city of Karnataka.
Officials said at the time that the police also seized an auto-pressed transparent polyphone bag, which contained white colored powder (suspected to be cocaine), weighing 12.64 grams. In the last few days, many drug-related arrests have taken place in Bengaluru as well.
Nigerian was arrested
Recently, crime branch officials arrested a Nigerian national for allegedly selling drugs in the Electronic City area. Police recovered 250 grams of MDMA crystal from the accused and seized the drug.
27 arrests were made in December
In December, another 27 people were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the Karnataka capital for allegedly running a drug racket through various messaging platforms. The 27 people include both peddlers and users of banned drugs. The Karnataka Police had earlier said that they have launched a campaign to completely eradicate narcotics from the state and such crimes will not be tolerated.
