Vande Bharat Express: Traveling to religious places in South India is going to be easier now. Ministry of Railways is preparing to run the country’s ninth Vande Bharat Express between Puri-Bhubaneswar-Howrah soon. According to the information, on Tuesday, the new Vande Bharat train was taken out of the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai and brought on the track.
Train being manufactured at Integral Coach Factory in Perambur, Chennai under Make-in-India initiative
The Bharat Express is being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Perambur, Chennai under the ‘Make-in-India’ initiative. After the trial, the route of this train will be formally decided. According to sources, preparations are on to run this train between Puri-Bhubaneswar-Howrah. Due to which the passengers visiting Jagannath Puri, Konark temple, sea and nearby areas will be facilitated. Its route trial will also start soon. This will be the second Vande Bharat Express of West Bengal and the first of Odisha.
More Vande Bharat trains to arrive in South India later this year
In fact, in view of the upcoming elections in many southern states, many other Vande Bharat trains will also be started by the end of this year. The new routes include Kachiguda in Telangana to Bengaluru in Karnataka and Secunderabad in Telangana to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Pune in Maharashtra. Assembly elections in Karnataka and Telangana are likely to be held later this year, while assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh are likely to be held in 2024.

The BJP is focusing on its performance in the southern states in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections under its Mission South. Railways had started South India’s first Vande Bharat Express train on the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysore route in November this year. At present, eight Vande Bharat trains are ready and running on different routes in the country and the ninth train is ready.

These are running on Nagpur-Bilaspur, Delhi-Varanasi, Delhi-Katra, Delhi-Una, Gandhinagar-Mumbai, Chennai-Mysore, Howrah-New Jalpaiguri and Secunderabad-Visakhapatnam routes. Railways has asked ICF to make Vande Bharat Express of eight coaches as a pilot. Indian Railways plans to run 75 Vande Bharat trains by the end of this year and 400 trains in the next three years.
