Record 5,000 lakh metric sugarcane production in the country

news reels

The record production of sugarcane can be gauged from the fact that more than 5,000 lakh metric tonnes of sugarcane has been produced in the country in the year 2021-22 season. Out of this, 3574 LMT sugarcane has been crushed in sugar mills. This produced 394 lakh metric tonnes of sugar (sucrose). Out of this, 36 lakh tonnes of sugar was used to make ethanol. At the level of sugar mills, 359 lakh metric tonnes of sugar was produced.

This is also a big reason for sugar being cheap

The major reason behind sugar being cheap is also that the target of production of 260 to 280 lakh metric tonnes of sugar is fixed in the sugar season. But considering the situation of bumper production of sugarcane in the country, 320 to 360 lakh metric tonnes of sugar is produced. Due to such high sugar production, the consumption of sugar in the Indian market does not decrease. Due to this, India is the second largest exporting country in the world after Brazil. Sugar mills also have a lot of stock left.
