Medical College Sexual Harassment: Operation Theater (OT) trainer Pawan Kumar has been leveled serious allegations of sexual harassment and mental harassment by a group of female paramedical students at a medical college in Karnal, Haryana. Taking action on the complaint, the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the college is probing the matter.
This case pertains to Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College (KCGMC) of Karnal. The matter arose when a committee of 11 members had reached the medical college on Saturday for inspection. Meanwhile, the victim girl students created ruckus and demanded immediate action against the culprit. Earlier, the girl students had also sent a seven-page complaint letter to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) regarding this.
Trainer asks to wear deep neck clothes
In a seven-page complaint to the committee, the girl students said that OT trainer Pawan Kumar had been harassing them mentally and sexually for a long time. He alleges that he used to send wrong messages to the girl students and used to harass them for not replying. He would ask the girls to wear deep neck clothes so that their beauty bones could be seen.
Promises to get job in PGI
Not only this, according to the complaint, the accused trainer Pawan Kumar used to make the girl students sit in the operation theater for hours without any work. He also allegedly tried to lure her by promising to get her a job in PGI and make her a Class Representative (CR) if she complied. The accused trainer was also asking the girl students to accompany him on the Vrindavan tour for 6 days from January 22 to January 26, for which the girl students refused.
ICC has to report the matter in 15 days
Responding to the complaint, Vidhansabha committee chairperson Seema Trikha has assured the paramedical girl students that strict action will be taken against the trainer if found guilty in the investigation. Seema Trikha has directed the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the college to investigate the allegations and submit a report within 15 days.
