Writer KS Bhagwan’s objectionable comment on Lord Rama, ‘used to sit and drink with Sita in the afternoon’

KS Bhagwan Controversial Statement: After the Ramcharitmanas controversy, Karnataka writer and ‘intellectual’ KS Bhagwan has fueled another controversy regarding Ram. He made many objectionable comments about Lord Rama and Sita. KS claimed that in ‘Valmiki Ramayana’ it is said that Lord Rama used to drink wine every afternoon sitting with his wife Sita. He sent his wife Sita to the forest regardless.

Not only this, KS Bhagwan also said that Rama had cut off the head of Shudra Shambuka who was doing penance under a tree. He raised the question that how can Ram be an ideal? There is talk of making Ram Rajya but reading Uttar Kand of Valmiki Ramayana shows that (Lord) Ram was not ideal. He did not rule for 11,000 years but only for 11 years.

In December 2018 too, he raised a similar controversy. He had said that according to Valmiki Ramayana, Lord Rama used to drink ‘nasha’ and used to make Sita consume it as well. He had also made this comment in his book ‘Ram Mandir Yeke Beda’. Even then his statement was strongly opposed. Even people outside the writer’s house tried to worship Lord Rama.
